Young Carers
At Meadows, we are committed to supporting the aspiration, growth and flourishment of all groups of learners.
We are particularly proud of our attention and provision for those children identified as young carers.
A young carer is someone aged under 18 who cares for a friend or family member who, due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction, cannot cope without their support.
Carers Trust also explains that young carers may take on practical tasks (cooking, housework, shopping), physical care (helping someone out of bed), emotional support (talking to someone who is distressed), personal care (helping with dressing), managing budgets and prescriptions, supporting communication, and looking after siblings.
We work annually to identify our young carers, and invite them to our weekly 'Boost Club'.
