At Meadows Primary School and Nursery, we believe that a caring school promotes the welfare, health, safety and guidance of every child. We recognise our statutory duty and pastoral duty to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our pupils.

At Meadows Primary School and Nursery, the Designated Safeguarding Lead is our Headteacher, Mr Joseph Piatczanyn. He is supported by three Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads, as pictured below.

In his role as Designated Safeguarding Leader, his main priorities are:
- Action planning to ensure Safeguarding at Meadows continues to evolve in its effectiveness.
- Quality of provision assessment to ensure safeguarding at Meadows is continuously under review.
- Online safety - focusing on the safeguarding requirements and knowledge needed in this growing area of concern.

Mrs Mejer is our Deputy Headteacher.
In her role as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leader, her main priorities are:
- Leading the establishment of excellent behaviour to keep children and staff safe.
- Supporting children, families and staff members in challenging behaviour circumstances.
- Prevent - understanding the safeguarding requirements and knowledge needed to keep our children and community safe from the threat of terrorism.
- Child Sexual Exploitation - understanding the safeguarding requirements and knowledge needed to keep our children safe from the risks of child sexual exploitation.
- Children in Need and Child Protection - Supporting families at the category of child in need or child protection.

Mrs Roberts is our Inclusion Manager.
In her role as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leader,hermain priorities are:
- Early Help - Supporting familiesin need of any service that will enablechildren and families as soon as problems emerge.
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health - Understanding the social, emotional and mental health challenges present in modern society and implementing support and training to ensure Meadows is exemplary in supporting SEMH.
- Children in Need and Child Protection - Supporting families at the category of child in need or child protection.

Mrs Thorpe is our Early Years Leader.
Inherrole as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leader,hermain priorities are:
- Early Years - understanding the safeguarding requirements and knowledge needed to keep ouryoungest children safe.

It is their responsibility to ensure that all concerns are recorded accurately and referred to the appropriate agency quickly to ensure that necessary actions are taken to promote children’s welfare. It is also their responsibility to ensure that all staff and volunteers are trained to an appropriate level and are confident in sharing concerns they have with the Lead Designated Person. This training takes place each year.
Each term, Mr Piatczanyn meets with the Safeguarding Governor to ensure that they are kept up to date with e developments in Safeguarding. At no point during these meetings are individual cases discussed.

Safeguarding Feedback
We regularly seek external validation of our safeguarding procedures and culture. In January 2024, we welcomed two members of the Local Authority's Safeguarding Team into school to complete a thorough safeguarding audit! We were delighted with the feedback received.
