Special Educational Needs/Disabilities
The SEN code of Practice reflects the new statutory framework 2014 for inclusion and describes a graduated approach to matching provision for pupil’s special educational needs.
The SEND categories are:
- Communication and interaction.
- Cognition and learning.
- Social, emotional well-being and mental health
- Sensory and/or physical disability.
SEND provision includes any child who may require extra support because of needs in these categories. This will be provided at the following levels of support:
Through universal provision in classrooms using differentiated methods and resources
Through SEND support using interventions and specialist advice
Through the delivery of an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
All children including those with special educational needs and those with disabilities admitted to the school have access to the full curriculum offered by the school.
