In preparation for our step up to secondary school (where many of us may choose to bike to school) and in readiness for our Bikeability programme, we have explored the importance of wearing a helmet when out on the roads and cycle paths on bikes. We looked at what the job of the helmet is and what can happen when we are not taking care with our safety. A really powerful lesson!
Cannock Chase Visit- Tuesday 17th May
When we reached Cannock Chase and saw the amazing forest all around us, we were in awe of its beauty. We were looking forward to a great day (we even had the perfect weather conditions).
After a a brief talk from Ranger Jacqui on forest management and use, we headed out on a map reading adventure. Not every step went to plan, but our trail led us through the wonderful landscape of The Chase and to base with minutes to spare before lunch.
Following our lunch stop, we had a play in the woods followed by a trail led by our ranger to discuss the trees, trails and habitats within the forest and the way that the wood is used to provide resources for us (in a manageable way). We completed team activities to help us to remember these important points.
It was a lovely, relaxing yet informative day, after a period of hard work by all of the children.
