South Asian Heritage Month - P.E - Kabbadi Workshop June 28th 2022

 As part of their South Asian Heritage Month experiences, Year 4 were joined by Mr. Moinul Islam, MBE, an official representative of the British Kabaddi Association; the founder of Outta Skool which offers multi-sports to underprivileged young people and he owns and plays for the Manchester Raiders Kabaddi Club. He introduced the children to Kabbadi and the children really enjoyed the experience.

We practised and performed our own composition, which Keaton called Beachside, on guitar with Mrs. Straw from Telford and Wrekin Music.

Persuasive Writing and Information Technology Skills March 30th 2022

The children have recently written persuasive letters, designed persuasive posters and have now taken some of their favourite slogans from these to create scripts for radio adverts. They have then combined these with their information technology skills using music and sound effects from the sites Bensound.com, Pixabay.com and Freesound.com to create their finished adverts.

Computing - Using repeats and loops to create shapes March 24th 2022

The children have been creating the algorithms to make shapes in Logo. They have used the repeat code to create loops rather than using individual instructions.

We learned in Science week about the positive effects of exercise. Exercise can be moderate like walking or vigorous. Our Week of Activities for World Book Day March 2022

 

We have been celebrating World Book Day all week long with activities everyday. We started the week by finding out about some books and authors who are new to us, as well as an author we know very well, by participating in the Matilda live workshop. 

We have gone on to design new World Book Day book tokens become reading doctors and make recommendations to one another with our reading prescriptions and make a reading museum with artefacts from our favourite books. 

We completed a yoga session based upon our class book Alice in Wonderland and created our own illustrations based upon those in the book we are reading by former Children's Laureate, Chris Riddell who happened to see and like our work in a tweet on the school account. 

And of course, we have been reading!

 

Perry the Bull, Commonwealth Games mascot visit March 3rd 2022

Meadows was visited by Perry the Bull, mascot for the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games Class 9 got to be part of the assembly and really enjoyed it
