We have reviewed our curriculum vision and design in consultation with members of our school community including children and parents. Everyone wanted the
vision statement to be: memorable, meaningful, visual and unique.
We wanted to illustrate our broad and enriched curriculum which includes History Heritage, Forest School, a range of Physical, Social and Creative Art programmes which have been designed to meet the needs of our children.
We decided to have an acrostic poem which explains the intent and design of our curriculum offer using the school’s name.
Writing the curriculum vision statement followed a process of several different stages in consultation with members of our school community:
The idea of the acrostic poem was shared with all pupils and staff in an assembly.
Homework was set for the children and their families to create an acrostic poem which reflected the curriculum offer at Meadows.
After the homework was returned the children and teachers in each class created one class acrostic poem with ideas taken from the homework.
We had a positive response to the homework which resulted in a total of fourteen amazing class acrostic poems.
All fourteen poems were discussed by senior leaders who then created one final poem using the class contributions. The final acrostic poem was shared with the whole school community in the monthly newsletter.
