Parents are responsible by law for ensuring the regular and punctual attendance of their children.
We are committed to safeguarding our children alongside providing a full and efficient educational experience to all pupils. We believe that if pupils are to benefit from education, punctuality and good attendance is crucial. We recognise that parents have a vital role to play and there is a need to establish strong home-school links and communication systems. If there are problems which affect a pupil’s attendance we will investigate, identify, and strive in partnership with parents and pupils to resolve those problems as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Our school attendance team are:
Mrs A Sydenham Headteacher & Designated Safeguarding Lead
Mrs J Roberts Inclusion Manager & Designated Safeguarding Lead
Mrs C Beaven Attendance Administrator
Mr D Santopietro Education Welfare Officer
For children to be successful learners we expect all children to attend regularly, attend punctually and to attend prepared for their day.
It is important to acknowledge and celebrate children who are meeting our attendance expectations.
We celebrate attendance in the following ways:
- Weekly Class Winners – during school assembly we congratulate the classes who have had the highest weekly attendance in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Their class number will be called out during assembly and the attendance cup will be displayed on the winning classroom doors.
- Attendance certificates are issued at the end of each term for all children who have achieved 100% attendance for the term, those who have the most improved attendance over the term and those who have the most improved punctuality over the term.
The school day timings are:
Reception 8.40 – 3.10
Years 1 – 6 8.45 – 3.15
The main school gates are opened daily at 8.30am. Pupils should not arrive on the school site before this time unless they are attending our Breakfast Club facility which opens at 8.00am. Every morning children are greeted by their class teacher/teaching assistant and welcomed into the classroom and are released by a member of staff at the end of each school day. All pupils in Key Stage 1 must be collected by an adult at the end of the school day.
Registration will be carried out in the morning and afternoon sessions.
